Saturday 26th January
Today's Scottish Cup 4th round tie is once again postponed due to the rain at Central Park, Lochore. It will be tried again next Saturday at the third time of asking then the tie must be played within a 10 mile radius of Central Park.
Friday 18th January
Tomorrows Scottish tie with Lochore at Central Park could be in doubt if anymore rain falls on Central Park. There probably will be an inspection early tomorrow so fingers crossed.

STAR CAN'T STOP SCORING
By the end of this season the STAR are going to have some goals for tally. With a 6 goals to 1 thrashing of local Midlothian neighbours Penicuik Ath in the league, the boys just can't stop finding the onion net and long it may continue. You could tell from the kick off the STAR where up for this league encounter and playing against some STAR veterans in Milne, Gay, Munro and Lynch, those older legs must have ached on Sunday morning. STAR got started in the 16th min, when Mr disco pants himself MANSON found the bottom corner of the net, as usual. Sorry CRAIG but the best goal of the game came in the 18th min from BRITTON who struck a rocket from just outside the box high into the net, must be seen on STAR TV. The Star where cruising at this stage and it was a joy to watch. Number 3 was ROSEBURGH'S after some lovely build up play from MEANEY. MEANEY not wanting to left out duly grabbed the 4th with a close in header on 45 mins. A strange sight was seen by all when after only 5 mins of the interval break, Cuiky came back on the park and had to wait for the STAR for a further 10 mins. It only took a further 8mins of the second half for the STAR to score again when MEANEY scored his second with a strong run and slide the ball into the bottom right hand corner. Cuiky did pull a goal back through Cameron but again young CURRAN only on the pitch 10 mins found the net once more, similar to the previous week against East Kilbride, well done 'Silky' and well done to all the boys on Saturday. Keep this style of football going and the STAR will be back where we belong, in the top league. Full time: Star 6 v 1 Penicuik Athletic
STAR PROGRESS INTO THE SCOTTISH CUP 4TH ROUND
Saturday was a big day for the STAR, wanting to still be in the Scottish Cup after christmas for the first time in some 3 or 4 seasons. Against tough opposition in East Kilbride Thistle this was going to be tough a encounter. Firstly I have to say the pitch was not in its best condition after Hibs U/19 played on it on the Friday afternoon, but Tam Quinn done his best rolling the pitch soon after. In front of a good crowd of around 200, the STAR were slow to start and they took time to adjust to the heavy park. Best chance fell to HUTCHISON in the first half, just putting his shot over the bar after some good build up. East Kilbride led at half time 0 v 1 after FORBES clearance only rebounding into the net. The second half was much better for the STAR and they pushed the EK defence back. The equiliser arrived in 68 mins when FORBES floated in a lovely ball to HUTCHISON at the back post who then headed across the goalmouth where ROSEBURGH was ready to pounce with his head, 1 v 1. ARMSTRONG sent on MANSON & CURRAN and CURRAN was only on the park 2 mins when he latched on to a high ball from FORBES again, nice control and cooly slotted the ball past the stunned keeper in 89 mins to win the cup tie. A deserved win for the boys with that never say die attitude- again. Full time STAR 2 v 1 East Kilbride Thistle

Referee Mr 'Bambi' Hogg has a shocker - AGAIN
Our favourite ref 'Bambi' once again had a shocking game involving Newtongrange Star. He constantly gave strange decisions and no wonder he is the laughing stock in the East juniors. On to the match and the STAR started slowly not for the first time this season and were 2 down inside 21 mins. It took 38 mins and a MEANEY header to get back into the game. Half time 1 v 2. The second half was much better for the STAR who pushed back the Bo'ness defence but they defended well. The killer punch arrived in the 82 min against the run of play when Bo'ness grabbed their third goal, in one of their rare attacks in the second half. With 4 min added on for injury time the STAR grabbed a consolation with MEANEY scoring his 2nd goal. Bad day at the office for the STAR,especially at home where the record shows, played 3, won 0, lost 2 ,drawn 1, not good enough especially in this league where home points are crucial. Full time 2 v 3.

FORTH BRIDGE ROADWORKS
If you are planning to drive to Kinnoull this weekend it maybe advisable to take the longer route to Perth. Go along the M9 towards Stirling then the A9 to Perth, better than sitting in the queue at the bridge which can be up to 2 hours at its worst.
